GREEN SEEDLESS GRAPES

Grapes are a fruit of the genus Vitis and most cultivars originate from Vitis vinifera a European grapevine native to the Mediterranean and Central Asia.

Table grapes, intended for consumption as fresh fruit, are different from wine grapes – larger in size, with thinner skin, and usually seedless.  Cultivation of grapes dates back as far as 8000 years.

Green (or white) grapes are lighter in taste and generally not as sweet as red grapes.   All grapes contain a range of vitamins and minerals, making them a healthy addition to the diet, but as they are moderately high in carbohydrates (sugar) people with diabetes need to be aware that they can affect blood sugar and insulin levels if consumed in large quantities.
